Using your divot tool to repair plug holes on the green.

I used to think that placing the divot tool prongs under the plug hole and simply lifting the grass to the surface was all that was needed - wrong!  Such a technique will break the connection between the grass and the roots and leave a semi-permanent patch of dead grass. Better to work around the dent and begin to decompress the damaged grass and soil by pushing the grass towards the centre and gradually bringing the grass to the surface.

My apologies to the green keepers for the trail of damage I have left behind. Fortunately my wedge approaches more often than not missed the greens. Let’s see what a green keeper has to offer: Thanks to Montrose Golf Links.

Good golfing and remember to keep those very important green keepers happy.
